About Restorer

Restorer helps people find specialists who repair and restore the things we value.

Why Restorer exists

Specialist restoration work is often difficult to discover through general search, despite being widely practised by highly skilled people.

Many restorers rely on reputation, recommendation and long-term experience rather than advertising or online visibility. As a result, their work is often fragmented across independent websites, informal networks and general trade directories.

Restorer was created to bring more clarity to this space. Unlike directories built around broad building trades, Restorer is focused on heritage craft, repair and restoration, helping people find the right specialist work more easily.

Founded from practice

Restorer was started by Frank Kent, a window restorer and artist, after experiencing these challenges directly while restoring sash windows and trying to represent his work online.

The platform was developed through a collaboration between Frank Kent and Josh Cranwell, combining hands-on restoration experience with digital design and development.

Built for good work to be easier to find.

Restorer is an ongoing project focused on making specialist restoration knowledge, skills and practitioners more visible and accessible.
